Properties: white powder or particle, apparent density 0.35-0.90g/cm3, melting point 622 ℃. Soluble in water. The pH of 1% aqueous solution is 9.7. It is hydrolyzed to phosphite gradually in water and has good ability of complexing metal ions. It can complex with calcium, magnesium, iron and other metal ions to form soluble complexes. It can soften hard water. As an inorganic surfactant, it has some properties of organic surfactant.

Uses: mainly used in synthetic detergents as additives, soap synergist and preventing grease precipitation and frosting of bar soap. It has strong emulsifying effect on lubricating oil and fat. It can be used to adjust pH value of buffer soap. It can be used as dispersant in industrial water softener, tanning pretanning agent, dyeing assistant, paint, kaolin, magnesium oxide, calcium carbonate and other industrial suspensions. It can also be used as dispersant in drilling mud. It can also be used as oil repellent in paper industry.
